Welcome
to the official website of the Idaho Springs Chamber of Commerce,
located in the heart of the beautiful Colorado Rocky Mountains...
where the Gold Rush goes on 150 years later!
We are breaking new ground in Idaho Springs and paving the way
for new businesses every day. Idaho Springs is arguably one of
the best locations to establish a new business – the first major
city after leaving the Denver metropolitan area on I-70 West,
the gateway to the Colorado Rockies and the fabulous powder skiing
to be found here. Idaho Springs is the central business and retail
area in Clear Creek County, where gold was discovered on January
7, 1859 by prospector George Jackson. As one of the richest strikes
in all of Colorado, a charming and well preserved Victorian business
district grew up in the 1870s to service the needs of the many
mines and the bustling population in the district.
In its mining heyday, Idaho Springs was home to as many as 18,000
people who came to find their fortunes; now providing homes to
approximately 2000 locals and many more visitors. Statistics show
that over 35,000 vehicles per day travel I-70 and many, many vehicles
stop to view the well preserved historic district and to enjoy
the many recreational activities and fine restaurants found in
Idaho Springs. Mountain biking or road racing, horseback riding,
river rafting, fishing, hiking, camping, four wheeling, snow skiing,
wildlife viewing, gold panning, museum visits, and hot springs
are but a few of the many activities to be found here.
At an elevation of 7524 feet, Idaho Springs lies at the base of
the Mount Evans Scenic and Historic Byway yet is still only 35
minutes from downtown Denver and an hour from Stapleton International
Airport. Regular shuttle service runs between the airport and
a central drop-off point. A well stocked Visitors Center is available
for specific information and directions to locate the many local
businesses and activities. Idaho Springs is a stopping point for
people traveling to and from destinations further into the Rockies
and we have 30 fine restaurants along with 20 interesting retail
businesses in the town.

of Summer" Chamber PARTY! Check back for
